| Using elements of nature to enhance one¹s well-being is the inspiration for Dawn¹s line of wearable art. With the dawn of the new millennium reigned a hunger for technological advancement, newly developed materials, and an almost futuristic design aesthetic. Dawn sensed a strong departure from the appreciation of all that was natural and organic, and her jewelry is hervisionary endeavor to fill that underestimated void. The use of precious and semi-precious gemstones, crystals, fossils, ancient coins, extraordinary seashells, exotic feathers, and hand carved wood and bone carvings are just some examples of what each raw element brings to the mix. Combined with a keen insight and sensitivity to play of every material¹s own unique shape, color and texture, her design spirit asserts in every piece a distinct individuality and singular energy. Thia all while retaining an untarnished simplicity. Dawn¹s materials are globally resourced from the South Pacific to the South China Seas, Central America, New Mexico to New Zealand. Dawn's work is entirely hand crafted in her home studio. She explains, "My clients have a real passion for enjoying life, are aware of nature¹s stimuli around them, and have a strong sense of personal style. They look to fashion in general, and to my designs in particular, as a distinctive measure of self-expression and the manifestation of a state of well-being." Indeed, to the vast and varied women who wear Dawn Wain¹s Jewelry, her distinctive pieces of wearable art. When women wear my jewelry, says Dawn, "I want them to know that they are sensual, beautiful, connected, and whole." Dawn¹s pieces can be easily worn with a variety of looks from swimwear to eveningwear. Her distinctive work has been featured editorially in fashion magazines that include Vogue, Elle, and In Style. Her jewelry has an extremely diverse audience and has not only been featured at retail stores including Barney¹s and Nordstroms, but can also be found exhibited and sold at some of the country¹s most prestigious art galleries and museums. A partial list of art shows includes: Lincoln Center (NYC), Park Avenue Armory (NYC), ACC (Baltimore), Paradise City (Marlboro, MA), & the Bruce Museum (Greenwich, CT). With a career in both interior design (with corporate clients that included: Citibank and Warner Communications), and fashion design (where her wearableart sweaters sold at stores including: Saks, Lou Lattimore, I Magnin, andmore), prior to her jewelry design, Dawn now applies her innate artistic vision and extraordinary skills exclusively to the creation of her incomparable jewelry collection. Despite her extensive experience, Dawn is humble about her creativity. The materials control what I do. The process comes through me, not from me. These natural materials tell me what to do with them. Her innovative uses of these gems of nature, each fitting together imperfect balance, are a testimony to the eloquence with which nature speaks to us all. The pieces are full of life, playful and fun at same time, a reminder Dawn says to not take oneself too seriously. |
